So You Want to Run Ads? Here’s What Needs to Happen First

A couple weeks ago, I posted about a client who hit $6K before coffee thanks to her ads, and y’all went nuts (in the best way).

Our DMs lit up. Emails came flying in. We’ve had so many great conversations with online store owners excited to finally run ads for their brand, and we’re so honored by that.

But here’s your friendly newsflash: Ads are not a flip-of-a-switch situation.

A high-performing ad strategy doesn’t happen by magic or luck. It needs a strong foundation underneath it, and that’s the part too many people are skipping.

We’ve chatted with a lot of you recently, and here’s where many online stores are missing the mark before they ever turn on an ad:

1. Product Descriptions That Actually Sell
You need more than a few bullet points and a fabric name. Your descriptions should highlight why someone needs this product, what problem it solves, and how it fits into their life.

👉 A great description doesn’t just list features, it sells the experience of owning it.

2. Strong Website Images
Your photos should stop the scroll and match the vibe of your brand. Stock photos? Please no. Flat lays on a bed with bad lighting? Also no.

👉 You don’t need a full studio setup, but you do need clear, high-quality images that show your product in use. Bonus points for lifestyle shots.

3. Thriving Facebook + IG Pages
Meta is smart, but it’s not psychic. If your social pages are silent, Meta has no idea who your ideal shopper is and your ads will have to spend precious budget just to figure that out.

👉 When you post regularly and build engagement, you’re feeding the algorithm the data it needs to get your ads in front of the right people faster.

👉 Followers don’t matter nearly as much as engagement. Build a real community, don’t just sell at people all day long.

We’re so excited that so many of you want to trust us with your ad dollars. Seriously, it means the world.

But we also want to make sure those dollars are well spent. And this foundation?

It’s not just helpful for ads, it’s absolutely required if you want a high-converting website in general. 💸

If you’re not there yet, that’s okay. We’ll help you get there. But if you’re ready to run, let’s make sure you’ve got the shoes laced and the route mapped first.

Let’s build something that lasts.
